Adversaries may cause a denial of control to temporarily prevent driver from interacting with vehicle controls. An adversary may attempt to deny vehicle control access to cause a temporary loss of communication with the vehicle or to prevent driver adjustment of vehicle controls. An affected vehicle may still be operating during the period of control loss, but not necessarily in a desired state.
This technique could manifest in a variety of ways, such as preventing the driver from controlling the vehicle's operation, potentially leading to severe impact, such as the vehicle not working or exhibiting unexpected behavior.
This type of attack technique cannot be easily mitigated with preventive controls since it is based on the abuse of system features.
